Private storage
Your firm's files, in your firm's own cloud.
We host and administer a dedicated Nextcloud instance for your practice. Your files, your permissions, your domain — and the server is ours to look after.
Dedicated instance · Open-source software · No per-user cost
Nextcloud is open-source software published under the AGPLv3 licence. BIMXcloud does not develop or license it: we host and administer it for your firm.
The firm's drawings shouldn't live in somebody's personal account.
Over time files scatter: a shared folder owned by whoever created it, deliverables sent by transfer links that have long expired, and three versions of the same drawing with no way to tell which one went to the client.
When someone leaves the firm, their access leaves with them — and nobody is quite sure what they had.
One cloud, belonging to the firm rather than to a person, administered by us.
What it solves.
Storage for the practice, not one more personal account.
- Dedicated instance
- Your own server, not a folder inside someone else's. It can live on your own domain.
- Desktop sync
- The firm's folders appear like any local folder on Windows or Mac and sync on their own.
- Links for clients
- Share deliverables with links you can password-protect and expire, without depending on transfer services.
- Permissions by project
- People see only the projects that are theirs, and external collaborators only what they need.
- File versions
- If someone overwrote a file, the earlier version comes back without asking us for anything.
- Access from your phone
- Check a drawing on site without carrying a laptop, from the mobile app.
Two layers of protection.
Versions and trash
The system keeps earlier versions of every file, and deleted files go to a trash bin. Your team recovers what it needs without opening a ticket.
Per file · Self-service
Server snapshot
Each day we take a full snapshot of the server and store it on a server independent of yours. If your server failed completely, we restore it to the previous day's state within 4 hours of you telling us, during support hours and at no cost.
Daily · Separate infrastructure
The honest limit: the daily snapshot keeps a single restore point, because the newest overwrites the previous one. In a total server loss you could lose up to 24 hours of work, because file versions live on the same server. The 4 hours are how long the restore takes; the 24 hours are the work that can be lost. They are not the same figure. If you need several days of history, get in touch and we'll configure it.
One plan, with no per-user cost.
Included
- Dedicated instance, not shared
- Initial setup and folder structure
- Monitoring and updates
- Daily snapshot on independent infrastructure
- Support from the people who administer your server
- Help uploading your existing files
The price doesn't change with how many people use it. If you need more space than the plan includes, it can be expanded — get in touch and we'll quote it.
What you need on your side.
- Nothing to buy: use it from the browser, the desktop or your phone.
- A stable connection. For syncing large models, a good one.
- Nothing to open on your firewall.
- The server runs on Linux — that part we administer.
- Deciding how you want folders organised before uploading everything. We'll help, but the decision is the firm's.
If your files are currently spread across several personal accounts, tell us: consolidating them is the laborious part, and we'd rather raise it now than later.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from Google Drive or Dropbox?
It's your instance rather than an account inside someone else's infrastructure: your files live on a dedicated server, with your permissions and optionally on your own domain. Drive and Dropbox are good products; if all you need is a shared folder, they'll probably serve you and we'll say so.
How much space is included?
It depends on the plan. If you need more, it expands without changing systems — get in touch and we'll quote it.
Can I share deliverables with clients?
Yes, with links you can password-protect and expire. The client doesn't need an account.
Will you help us upload what we already have?
Yes. The laborious part is usually deciding the folder structure, not the upload. We review it with you before starting.
Who owns the files?
You do. It's your instance and your data. If you ever decide to leave, we hand everything over.
What happens if I stop paying?
We send reminders before the due date. If we don't receive payment, the server is suspended. Download your files before that date; if you didn't, write to us and we'll grant a grace period of up to 10 calendar days. Deletion happens from the tenth day onward. We keep the snapshot from the last active day for 30 days.
Ready to stop administering servers?
Buy online, or tell us how your team works and we'll tell you which tier fits.
No forced contract. If you buy the wrong tier, we'll adjust it.
